TESTING IMAGE ORIENTATION

Individuals with a Testing Image Orientation (TIO) sometimes see their environment as ambiguous, which could be due to insufficient reinforcement for productive behavior or inadequate directions as to expectations. Such perceived ambiguity may indicate that, early in life, the person learned to respond to ambiguous situations with questioning and overachievement. Further learning may have weakened this behavioral response, but pressure situations tend to indicate this old behavior. One way to eliminate the behavior is to eliminate the pressure. If that is not possible, perhaps a reexamination of whether this behavior is appropriate to the situation may help. Another answer is to emulate the behavior of someone who responds well to pressure.

TIOs need a work environment that reinforces current behavior and clarifies expectations, in order to dissolve their feelings of ambiguity. If this does not happen, the person may feel the need to overachieve resulting in overperformance. Eventually, the person will begin to wonder inwardly just how long the pace can be maintained.

SOCIABLE IMAGE BASE

Sociable Image Base (SIB) people are tactful, diplomatic, and detail-oriented in their work. They seek to avoid antagonizing others and dislike negative reactions, which make them sensitive to how others treat them. They are conservative and cautious, often checking and rechecking their work, thereby slowing down the decision-making process. That persistence, however, often makes them valuable as troubleshooters, since they may uncover areas in the work environment that need improvement or change. SIBs are easily adaptable, but their reluctance to "make waves"may sometimes be a drawback, since they may fail to point out a problem due to fear of antagonizing someone. SIBs prefer to have a clear idea of exactly what is expected of them, and they will work very hard to realize those expectations. Tact and systematic work habits, as well as an excellent sense of timing, are qualities that co-workers find particularly engaging in SIBs, although there is a possibility that too much concentration on detail may sometimes cloud their goals. Fear of unfavorable reactions from peers and superiors can cause SIBs to escape into too much precision in their work, but with enough positive reactions, they can turn their fears around and perform in a more relaxed fashion.

Individuals whose personalities are geared toward high self-image (SIO) tend to project an image of strong individualism and determination. They are forceful people who are not afraid to do things on their own. They constantly seek new challenges, are extremely self-reliant, and prefer to find their own solutions to problems. Even so, however, when they are forced to work in a group environment, they can be shrewd and manipulative, of both people and situations. In that case, if they see themselves as being impeded, they can become belligerent. Because SIOs are always looking for new challenges and areas where they can apply their excellent problem-solving skills, their original insights and logical thinking often result in innovative and imaginative ideas and solutions. Their extreme self-confidence and eagerness for new responsibilities, however, often alienate them from groups, who view them as too egotistical and lacking in concern for others

Reality Image Profile

“The greatest thing in the world is not so much where we are,

but in what direction we are moving.”

Oliver Wendell Holmes

The Language of dress and color

The reality image orientation projects a natural, comfortable, attractive image.  In a crowded room, you want to be noticed for your appropriate, conservative, and stylish appearance.  You want to feel comfortable and wear rich fabrics but “please” not too much glitz.  You never want to overdo yourself or look too glamorous.  You are a genuine, sincere person who works hard and wants to be content with your wardrobe, as long as it’s stylish, natural and comfortable.  Jeans, earth tones, pastels are some of your favorites.  A classical, simple look for an evening with a touch of glitz is your desire for dressy occasions.  The outdoors look becomes your look for casual wear but is conservative.

You want attention but you don’t want to be too flamboyant.  In order for you to get more attention, Makeup more! Dress up more!  Brighter and more dramatic colors, such as black, red, white, navy, royal blue, and fuchsia will attract more attention! (If you desire)

You are a perfectionist when it pertains to detail in a wardrobe.  Rich fabrics, natural accessories, and shoes with an outdoor flare attract you.  Name brands, small prints, plaids, and checks in an outfit are some of your favorites also!  You’re color coordination and style make your guests feel very comfortable around you.  You prefer not to threaten anyone with your appearance, so you choose an image that is appropriate for any occasion.  You take great pride in looking and feeling your best.

Romance, Dating, and Marriage

In a relationship, the things that could help you improve your loving relationships are:
